An Advaita Vedanta meditation app for neti neti, Ramana Maharshi’s self-enquiry and resting as the witness.
ContactThe Self, witness of every state
The Upanishads; Śaṅkara; Ramana Maharshi’s self-enquiry
The Advaita Vedanta practice in three movements. Neti neti, not this, not this: every sensation, thought and state is noticed and set aside. Self-enquiry: attention turns back to ask who is aware. Then rest as the witness, with no object at all.
Ways in: Withdrawal, Paced breath. Every session is carried on binaural sound tuned toward theta, the slow rhythm of the edge of sleep that these rites were built to reach. More on the state.
Advaita teaches that the self, ātman, and the absolute, brahman, are one. Nothing needs to be reached, because nothing was ever separate. The Upanishads name four states, waking, dreaming, deep sleep and turīya, the fourth, which is present through the other three. No tradition comes closer to describing from the inside the state these instruments read from the outside.
