The hour has a reading. So does the day.
Eight divinatory traditions, 225 symbols and a sky that keeps time. ORACLE gives you one reading for the day that holds until midnight, and a new reflection for every hour of it, waiting on your home screen before you have unlocked the phone.
The ancients divided the day into hours that belonged to powers. ORACLE keeps that rhythm. Your Daily Oracle is drawn once, sealed for the day, and stays identical in the app and on every widget until local midnight. Then, each hour, a different reflection turns your daily reading through a new lens: observe, clarify, listen, create, release, rest.
ORACLE does not throw a card at you. It slows the moment down, the way the traditions did.
Your card waits face down at the centre of a slowly turning gold astrolabe. Hold the question, tap, and it turns over. Then the name, its themes and the reflection unfold in order.
Three coins are thrown six times and the hexagram builds from the bottom up, as the Ten Wings describe. Changing lines glow gold and resolve into the second, relating hexagram.
Draw a tarot card, a rune, a hexagram and a planet together. ORACLE compares their themes on the device and shows where they agree and where they pull against each other.
Tarot was born as a card game in the courts of fifteenth-century Italy; the hand-painted Visconti-Sforza trumps survive in New York and Bergamo. It became an instrument of divination only in eighteenth-century Paris, with Court de Gébelin in 1781 and Etteilla, and took its modern face from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck of December 1909. ORACLE’s seventy-eight cards carry that whole history, so you always know which layer you are reading.
The Zhou yi is older still, a Western Zhou manual of sixty-four hexagrams whose core probably took shape in the late ninth century BCE. The classical yarrow-stalk method and the later three-coin method give the same overall chance of a changing line, one in four, but divide it differently between yin and yang. ORACLE tells you which you are using, and why it matters:
| Value | Line | Yarrow stalks | Three coins |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Old yin, changing | 1 in 16 | 1 in 8 |
| 7 | Young yang | 5 in 16 | 3 in 8 |
| 8 | Young yin | 7 in 16 | 3 in 8 |
| 9 | Old yang, changing | 3 in 16 | 1 in 8 |
The runes are given as the inscriptions and the three medieval rune poems preserve them; their divinatory use is presented honestly as a modern practice. Planetary context, moon phase, planetary day and, with your coordinates, the true unequal planetary hour, is computed on the device from real sunrise and sunset.
The Neuro Edition is designed so that your own EEG opens the reading. The astrolabe slows as posterior alpha rises above your personal baseline, and the card turns only after your attention has held steady. Each hourly reflection becomes a two-minute settling practice, with a record of your sessions over time.
ORACLE’s 225 reflections are original modern writing for contemplation, journaling and self-inquiry, kept clearly apart from the historical material in Scholar Mode. ORACLE is not medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice.
