Ekstasis — Privacy policy

Who provides this app

Ekstasis (com.discoveryscience.ekstasis) is provided by Discovery Science, Inc. Contact montgomery@discovery-science.com for privacy questions. Effective date: October 3, 2026.

Local information

The app stores your journal entries, session records and checkpoints, sound/accessibility preferences on your device. You choose what to enter. No account is required.

Collection and sharing

The app has no internet permission, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, remote database, or developer-operated data collection service. It does not send these records to Discovery Science. We do not sell app data. No microphone recording, contacts access, EEG data collection, or health-sensor access is implemented. Audio is bundled locally.

Exports and external links

When you choose Export Journal, Android lets you select the destination for a JSON file. A destination may be a cloud document provider; its handling is governed by that provider. Exported files contain the records you selected to export (the full journal). External source links open only after you select them, in your chosen browser. That website and browser may process connection information under their own policies.

Support email

If you choose to contact us by email, your email provider transmits the message and address you supply. We use the information you send to respond to your request. You can ask us to delete support correspondence at the contact address above, subject to applicable retention obligations. The app does not send support messages automatically.

Storage, retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete them, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall it. Journal entries can be edited and deleted inside the app. Clear Android app storage to remove all saved names, questions, preferences and checkpoints. Android automatic backup and device-transfer backup are disabled. Uninstalling does not remove separately exported copies; delete those from their chosen destination.

Permissions

No user-granted permissions are requested. Android’s document picker grants access only to the export destination you choose. The app does not request internet, location, microphone, Bluetooth, contacts, or broad storage access.

Security

App-private storage uses Android’s application sandbox and device protections. The app does not add a separate encrypted vault or password lock. Keep your device protected and consider where you export personal reflections.

Children

This app is intended for an adult audience interested in historical study and contemplation. It does not knowingly collect children’s data through a server or account system.

Policy changes

Any material change to app data handling will be reflected in this policy and its effective date. This policy describes this release; it does not describe unrelated Discovery Science applications.
